Jewish Disabilities Advocates

Jewish Disabilities Advocates (JDA) provides programming and coordinates resources to promote full participation of Jewish people with disabilities in the Jewish community and the community at-large. JDA partners with local synagogues and Jewish communal agencies to promote inclusion and address the needs of Jewish people with disabilities and their families.

The Jewish Disabilities Advocates’ Inclusion Committee was created to raise awareness and accommodation of people with disabilities within the Jewish agencies and institutions through education, mentoring, and advisement. The primary outcome has been the development of inclusion programs at local religious institutions to ensure that all people are welcomed.

Local synagogues are collaborating to create disability awareness by distributing resources and information to the Jewish community. Services provided include information and referral, advocacy and education, case management, support groups, and fully inclusive holiday celebrations, worship services, and social action in partnership with synagogues and other supporting agencies.
