Human Resources Intern

Jewish Family Service of Colorado (JFS) in southeast Denver has an unpaid internship available in the Human Resources department. Hours/days are flexible (approximately 10-20/week) for six months, with potential to extend.

Every day, JFS helps people overcome life’s challenges to live fuller, more meaningful lives. Founded in 1872, JFS is a nonsectarian, nonprofit human services agency serving metro Denver and Boulder. JFS helps seniors live independently at home, provides quality mental health counseling, offers training and job placement to those with barriers to employment, and provides food and financial aid to people in crisis.Every year the agency benefits nearly 24,000 people of all ages, faiths, and incomes.

Internship Focus:


  • Create and execute various HRIS projects, create reports, and enter data.
  • Create standard of work documents for HRIS processes.
  • Participate in various continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct research needed for Human Resources department – recruiting, training, HR automated programs for onboarding, and employee orientations.


  • Work with HR staff to collaborate and identify processes utilizing data analysis, compensation, etc.
  • May require trend analysis, benchmarking, communication packages, conducting research on emerging HR issues and efficiency improvements, project management, and solution implementation related to HR activities.


  • Research, plan, and organize training programs, including webinars, for all levels of staff.
  • Identify training programs specific to department needs.
  • Document, review and organize training systems procedure and supporting documentation for training programs.


  • Education – Business, Human Resources, or related field
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently
  • Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Basic knowledge of Human Resources, Project Management and Data Analysis, preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Creative with ability to problem solve
  • Ambitious and passionate self-starter
  • Able to prioritize tasks and grasp new concepts
  • Strong ethics and ability to maintain high level of confidentiality
